Council of Library Teens

The C.O.L.T began in 2004 and is comprised of teens from the Redmond middle schools
and high school. They meet once a month to discuss teen programming, creating appealing
teen spaces in the library, teen book collections, library promotion, and, of course,
their favorite books!
C.O.L.T. members have been involved in many activities during the past two years.
The most visible is the creation of the mural in the library meeting room. Local
artist Tracy Thille donated her time to work with the teens to create a mural of
book worlds.
The C.O.L.T. have also participated in the annual 4th of July parades and Christmas
parades.
In addition, the C.O.L.T is also responsible for the bench out in front of the library.
They partnered with the City of Redmond and the local chapter of the American Legion,
and had a bake sale to raise money for the bench.
This group also had their hand in the decoration of the teen area in the library,
and the creation of Teen Territory, a weekly, after-school program for teens where
they can come in and surf the Web, read books, play games, do crafts, or just hang
out.
Watch for the C.O.L.T. at the upcoming 4th of July parade!
