HomeWord Bound

The HomeWord Bound program provides access to Deschutes Public Library's materials for homebound Deschutes County residents. This free service is available for Deschutes County residents who are homebound due to short or long term disabilities or illness. To contact us regarding this service, please call Outreach Services at 312-1035 or sign up online. You can request specific titles or ask us to select titles for you. Materials are mailed to your home every three weeks through the U.S. Postal Service. You have access to all Deschutes Public Library's circulating materials (except items with a 7-day loan period). Items available include audio books, large print, magazines, music compact discs and much more!

How We Select Your Materials

Prior to your first delivery a library staff member will contact you about your reading preferences so we can provide you with the materials you want. Next, a HomeWord Bound volunteer will be assigned to you, and based on your reading preferences, will choose library materials for you. Let staff and volunteers know what your reading likes and dislikes are by completing a Reader's Rating form (provided with each delivery). You can also request library materials by calling Outreach Services at (541)312-1035.

How to Return Your Materials

Renewals & Fines

Call 312-1035 for renewal requests. As long as there are no holds on the item, it will be renewed.

No overdue fines will be charged to "HomeWord Bound" patrons, but patrons will be notified of any overdue items on their library account. If an item gets lost or damaged while in your care, you would be charged for the replacement cost and processing fee for the item. If an item gets lost or damaged in the mail, you will notify Outreach Sercies staff immediately at (541) 312-1035.
