About the Library

The Deschutes Public Library is a window to the world of reading, learning, and information, and serves citizens of all ages throughout Deschutes County. Getting the right information to the right person at the right time is our primary mission.

The Deschutes Public Library consists of five branches located in Bend, La Pine, Redmond, Sisters, and the Sunriver Area. The Library's Administration's office is headquartered in the old Bend Public Library on Wall Street in Bend.

Considered one of the fastest growing areas in Oregon, the Library serves a population of approximately 160,000 people. The Library's bookmobile service, The Bookmobile, serves the rural communities within the County and focuses primarily on children and parenting materials. The Library's homebound service provides delivery to County residents confined to their homes. Circulation throughout the library service area has increased dramatically. More than 2 million items were circulated this past year.
